His medical degree is from Tulane University School of Medicine. His psychiatric training was completed at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, California. As of 2009, Dr. Hersevoort was elected as a Councilor-at-Large for the Northern California Psychiatric Society, which is the American Psychiatric Association division for Northern California. He has worked as a consultant to, and evaluator for, several state legal organizations in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
